Oct. 5, 2009   United Nations of Providers and Payers Brings Industry Together.

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- EDI Health Group, Inc., (EHG), a provider of enhanced connectivity, streamlined technology and transaction solutions for patients, payers and providers in the dental industry, hosted its first "United Nations of Providers and Payers" on August 27, 2009. This event brought together representatives from many of the nation's largest dental groups and selected payers to discuss needed improvements in operational efficiencies and quality of transaction services between the organizations.

Many of the dental industry's largest payers, which included the Delta Dental Plans Association, Guardian Life and Health, United Healthcare, Cigna, Delta Dental of California, and Ameritas, joined QSI, a practice management vendor representing 2,000 locations, and multiple group dental practices representing 1,208 locations and 2,420 providers in the daylong summit. This unprecedented gathering engaged the groups in discussions on how the payers and providers could work together to immediately implement changes to improve the efficiency of the billing process, guarantee an ROI for the payer and enhance utilization by the provider groups. As a result of the discussions, payers including Guardian, United Healthcare, and Delta Dental of California pledged to incorporate changes into their eligibility and benefit transactions which would immediately increase the value of their EDI transactions, potentially saving millions of dollars in annual costs for all involved parties.

"Bringing together many of the nation's largest dental insurance companies and dental provider groups in this face-to-face forum was quite an honor for us," stated EHG President Scott Wellwood. "We're enthused by the level of dedication and commitment shown by the participants to work together. By improving their transactional processes and data content, the industry will see greater EDI utilization. This increased level of service and lower transactional costs will ultimately benefit consumers. The willingness of all of the participants involved to not only attend and actively participate in discussions, but to take significant, impactful action items back to their organizations made this event an overwhelming success for all involved."

"The post-event response that we've received from the participants has been beyond our every expectation with nearly every attendee agreeing to jump on 'The Bus'," explained LeAnn Eyres, Director of Partner Relations at EHG. "There was much accomplished at the event in terms of airing the issues that negatively impact the efficiency of the EDI billing cycle. By understanding that many of the technical/IT teams at the payers never get the opportunity to meet the provider and their EDI/billing teams and receive such direct feedback and requirements, we feel that both sides now have greater empathy for the challenges each face. We still have some work to do to gain faith from both sides, but this summit was only the beginning of an extended process to identify and implement procedures and technology that will enable these organizations to effectively eliminate eligibility verification call volume."

Given the success of this first event, DentalXChange plans to host similar events and provide forums to facilitate conversations between payers and providers, allowing them to raise issues and propose solutions for the advancement of the whole industry. For additional information regarding the results of this first summit or to inquire about participating in a future event, contact LeAnn Eyres at leyres@dentalxchange.com.

We hope that we also help to raise the standards of the dental industry as a whole."

"This agreement provides a great synergy for the dental practitioner", stated Wellwood, "since both EHG and PerfectByte are technology-based providers of business services for the dentist. The more we can deliver in the way of administrative support, the more time the dentist has with patients. That's a winning scenario for everyone."

Patricia Dees of PerfectByte stated, "Combining practice management software with electronic claims processing allows the dentist to concentrate more on the delivery of health care and less on the business side of things."

Oct. 1, 2005   NEA Integration

The NEA* electronic attachment service is now integrated with your ClaimConnect account. ClaimConnect users no longer have to guess which claims require x-rays or other supporting documentation. By working closely with Payers, NEA and ClaimConnect have developed a comprehensive set of rules to determine which claims require attachments on a Payer by Payer basis.

Simply send all of your claims to ClaimConnect, and if the claim requires an attachment, you will be alerted. Send the requested attachment to NEA electronically, and the attachment number will be automatically inserted into the claim on its way to the Payer. Once the claim is received by the insurance company, they can call up your image on screen and release the claim for payment. That's it!

Aug. 1, 2004   EHG Industry Summit

In August 2004 EDI Health Group hosted a historic event that brought together industry leaders from across the country. The Inaugural Industry Summit allowed for open dialog among the nations' leading Payers and Practice Management Vendors. The parties gained a better understanding of what our mutual provider customers want and need in terms of EDI connectivity, and gave them an unprecedented opportunity to network with their peers in a noncompetitive environment.

Attendees included representatives from Aetna, Ameritas, Delta Dental Plans, MetLife, Wellpoint, AlphaDent, Datacon Dental, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Kodak Dental Systems, QSI to name a few.

The highlight of the event was the open forums that facilitated spirited discussions. The broad spectrum of topics centered on our roles in the future of the Insurance and Claim Processing industry.

Partnership with EHG means much more than just selecting a clearinghouse to process your claims. It is a relationship between forward thinking companies determined to make a difference in an industry and in people's lives.

New transactions are being implemented at a rapid pace, and EHG is uniquely positioned to facilitate seamless connectivity between providers and payers.

As the power behind many Payer transaction sites such as MetDental.com, Aetnadental.com, and the Wellpoint family of companies, EHG has more experience in processing real-time dental transactions in a secure online environment than any other company.

In addition, the company announced the formation of its EHG Youth Foundation, a charity specifically focused on educational, health and guidance needs of children in this country and abroad. EHG will donate a portion of its proceeds to this foundation and we welcome similar contributions from our vendor and payer partners.
